Following a unanimous resolution by the board on July 15, 2025, the NZ Esports Federation will officially adopt The Integrity Code for Sport and Recreation in the coming weeks.
The adoption of this framework underscores our commitment to the highest standards of safety and fairness. This initiative is fundamental to our strategic objective of creating a secure and inclusive esports ecosystem, providing a strong foundation that will empower our future expansion into specialised digital integrity protocols for the world of esports.
What this means
The adoption of the Integrity Code signifies our commitment to fostering a safe, fair, and inclusive environment for all members of the NZ Esports community. This framework will be the cornerstone of our integrity-related policies and procedures moving forward.
Binding Commitment for All Members
As of the formal adoption date of The Integrity Code, all NZ Esports Federation members, including players, coaches, officials, and administrators, will be bound by the Integrity Code. This ensures a consistent and unified approach to upholding the highest standards of conduct across our ecosystem.
New and Updated Policies
To align with the principles of the Integrity Code, we have developed a suite of new and updated policies. These documents outline the specific standards of behavior expected within NZ Esports and provide clear pathways for addressing any concerns. While these are formally draft policies, we intend to formally adopt these over the coming months. We encourage all members to familiarize themselves with these policies, which can be found at the following links
What Our Members Need to Know
The Integrity Code establishes minimum standards in several key areas, including:
Prohibited Conduct: The code explicitly prohibits a range of behaviors, including bullying, harassment, discrimination, and other forms of abuse.
Safeguarding: There is a strong focus on protecting children, young people, and vulnerable adults within our community.
Dispute Resolution: The code outlines a fair and effective process for resolving disputes and addressing complaints.
Cooperation: Members are expected to cooperate fully with any investigations or dispute resolution processes conducted under the Integrity Code.
We are confident that the adoption of the Integrity Code will be a significant step forward for esports in New Zealand. We appreciate the support of our members in embracing these new standards and helping us build a culture of integrity that we can all be proud of.
