Our volunteers have always been the ones behind the scenes making our events run. Someone checking people in at the door. Someone managing the stream table. Someone who says yes when an organisation reaches out two days before an event because they’re short a pair of hands.
For years, that “yes” came with more friction than it should have. Posting an event meant manual back and forth. Signing up meant chasing details over email or Discord. Organisations wanting volunteers had to wait on a process that simply wasn’t built to move fast. So we built something to fix it.
Introducing Crew
Crew is our new volunteer platform, built specifically for the people who show up and do the work, and for the organisations who rely on them.
Volunteers can now create an account, browse upcoming events, apply directly and manage their own shifts in one place. No more guessing what you signed up for or scrambling to find the details the night before. You know when you’re volunteering, what you’re expected to do and where you need to be.
On the other side, organisations get a dedicated portal to upload events and request volunteers without the manual overhead that used to eat up so much time. What once took significant back and forth to post a single event is now streamlined from start to finish.
One thing we wanted to get right with Crew is recognising the volunteers who consistently put their hand up. Reliability matters, both to us and to the organisations asking for support, so the platform tracks who is active and dependable, making it easier to recommend volunteers who have a track record of showing up.
We also wanted to reward that effort properly. Working with our volunteers on what would actually be meaningful to them, we’ve built a tier badge system into Crew. The more events you volunteer for, the more you unlock. It’s a straightforward way of saying that your time matters to us, and that showing up consistently should count for something.
Volunteers are the backbone of our events. Without them, tournaments don’t run, streams don’t go live and organisations don’t get the support they need. We wanted a platform that reflected that, one that treats volunteering as something worth making easy, not something people have to fight through admin to do.
Crew is our attempt at removing that friction entirely, for volunteers and organisers alike.
