Inter-university sport has been a staple of the tertiary experience in New Zealand for decades. Students compete across dozens of sports through organised leagues and events every year. Until now, esports hasn’t had an equivalent. NZEUS changes that.

What is NZEUS?
NZEUS (NZ Esports Uni Series) is a structured esports series for tertiary students across New Zealand. The Olympus Edition is our pilot series, running as a Valorant competition from 27 April to 27 May 2026. The series is supported by University and Tertiary Sport New Zealand (UTSNZ) and powered by Chorus Fibre. Entry is free for all teams. Teams can register either a Competitive or Social team to compete in the series.
Our New Tournament Platform
NZEUS will also be the first event run through our purpose-built tournament platform at play.nzesports.org.nz. The platform was designed with students in mind and brings registration, scheduling, brackets, and results into a single place. It has been built from the ground up and this will be its first live deployment.
Who can play?
Any enrolled student at university. Recent graduates from the past two years are also eligible. Teams only at this stage. Individuals should connect with their campus esports club or student association to find a team.
