When the players stepped up at the 2025 HADO E Blacks Ceremony, it wasn’t just about handshakes and photos. It was about recognising a group of dedicated athletes representing the next chapter of competitive HADO in New Zealand.
Following a strong appearance at the 2023 World Championships, this year’s squad reflects the steady growth of the sport in New Zealand, built on consistency, commitment, and belief. Led by coach Connor Green, the team has been preparing with purpose. Their training strikes a balance between physical readiness and wellbeing, a necessity in a sport that’s as physical as it is digital.
In May, the newly named 2025 HADO NZ E Blacks, sponsored by Spark Game Arena, will head to Shanghai, China, to compete at the HADO World Cup. It’s a proud moment for the team, the local HADO community, and the wider New Zealand esports scene.
This marks the second time New Zealand will compete at the World Cup wearing the E Blacks jersey, and the passion runs just as deep.

The tournament begins on 24 May, and from the moment they step into the arena, the team will be bringing speed, strategy, connection, and heart.
HADO blends real-world movement with virtual gameplay, demanding sharp reflexes, smart decision-making, and strong teamwork. The E Blacks have worked hard to prepare, focusing on what matters most: building strength over time and looking after both body and mind.
The countdown is on. The team is ready.
Let’s go, New Zealand.🔥
